Our Scientists at Brussels meeting on Future Food Systems

Prof. Carsten Carlberg and Iwona Kieda represented Institute od Animal Reproduction and Food Research Polish Academy of Sciences in Olsztyn during a Brussels-based meeting on „Advancing Food Systems in Europe – research & innovation for healthier, sustainable and resilient future”.

The event brought together researchers in food production, personalized nutrition, consumer behaviours, as well as food sector SMEs and policy makers co-creating upcoming strategies for the transformation of the EU food system.

Professor Carsten Carlberg was engaged in the session on scientific advances in nutrition-based preventive strategies. He presented Nutrigenomics team’s research on the role of vitamin D in healthy aging and reducing the risk of non-communicable diseases. Carsten also showcased the mission and vision of EIT Food Think and Do Tank on Healthy Aging, he is actively supporting with his expertise.

Iwona Kieda was one of the panelists in the roundtable discussion on the strategic Research & Innovation directions for the new EU framework programme FP10. She presented the recommendations of FOODforce network Institute belongs to, as to how collaborative, multinational multistakeholder research, and continuous investment in food science topics can contribute to building a more competitive and resilient EU food system.

The event was co-organized by the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR), POLSCA Office and East Poland House. It was honored with the patronage of the Polish presidency of the EU Council of the EU.​
