PhD student
Piotr Lekowski holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology and a Master’s degree in Animal Molecular Biotechnology from the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. His Master’s thesis focused on analyzing the expression of PRDX genes in porcine endometrium under in vitro conditions. The study employed laboratory techniques such as cell culture, RNA isolation, and real-time PCR to investigate the role of PPARγ in the regulation of oxidative stress.
During his studies, Piotr completed an internship in microbiological laboratories, where he gained experience in food quality analysis and developed essential laboratory skills for working with research material under sterile conditions.
As a member of the WELCOME2 team, Piotr is responsible for investigating changes in the transcriptome and epigenome of human immune cells treated with vitamin D under in vitro conditions, with the aim of determining its impact on epigenetic memory.
