Arleta Janysz joins the WELCOME2 team

Arleta Janysz joins the WELCOME2 project and takes the position of a technologist in Prof. Carsten Carlberg’s Nutrigenomics group.

What is the focus of your research?

My master’s thesis dealt with the qualitative and quantitative assessment of lawson and paraphenylenediamine in products called “henna”. I aspire to conduct research on the issues that affect us directly, here and now, in our daily lives. For now, I want to develop my knowledge about the effects of vitamin D and other lifestyle changes on our body.

What organizations/institutions have you studied or worked in?

I obtained my master’s degree in molecular biology from the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn.

Most recently, I have worked in a pharmaceutical laboratory where I gained some valuable experience in microbiological analyses by analysing the quality and purity of medicines and supplements.

What do you consider the greatest achievement in your career so far?

I believe that my greatest achievement so far is completing my Master’s thesis, which dealt with the  problem of the incorrect naming and labelling of specific cosmetic products, which can thus have a negative impact on the health of their users. This research allowed me to gain a lot of knowledge and some useful laboratory skills, and the results proved relevant to many people. The goal of my research was to make more people aware of this issue.

What was your motivation to join WELCOME2 team?

I am motivated to acquire knowledge, improve my skills and achieve a professional success. I want to learn more about nutrigenomics, studying how food and its ingredients could influence gene expression in humans and animals, and how genetic differences can impact the development of diet-related diseases.

What are your research goals to pursue in the near future?

I would like to learn as much as possible under the supervision of Prof. Carlberg and the rest of our team. I want to develop my skills and acquire new competences as a researcher.

What are your outside of work interests?

As a nature lover, I relish spending time outdoors, especially when walking with my dogs. Immersing myself in nature helps me to clear my mind and strengthens my sense of connection with the world around me. Additionally, I have a passion for plants and gardening, growing my own urban jungle at home. A delightful new hobby of mine is sailing, and my love for spending time by the water has been a cherished part of my life for as long as I can remember.
