How can researchers effectively take science beyond the laboratory? During the final workshops of the third edition of the Rising Managers Academy (RMA), young scientific leaders learned how crucial communication is in the work of a researcher. The two-day meeting concluded a year-long training cycle organized at the Institute.
Communication was the central theme of the final RMA workshops, held on 4-5 December at the InLife Institute. The sessions were led by Iwona Kieda, Head of the Communications and International Affairs Office at the Institute.
– Researchers explored the art of communication as a way to build understanding and trust with diverse audiences – whether members of the general public, journalists, business investors, policymakers or funding bodies. The skills they practiced will help them take their science out of the lab and bring it to the people, collectively creating impact – emphasized Iwona Kieda.
Closing ceremony and recognition of participants
At the end of the second workshop day, a formal diploma ceremony took place. Certificates confirming completion of the Academy were presented by Prof. Monika M. Kaczmarek, Director of the Institute, and Prof. Mariusz Piskuła, coordinator of the Welcome2 project.
The ceremony marked the symbolic conclusion of a year filled with intensive work, challenges and professional development.
– I warmly congratulate all participants on completing the third edition of the RMA. I want to emphasize that researchers can always count on our support – both in overcoming everyday research challenges and in building their scientific careers – highlighted prof. Monika M. Kaczmarek.
– I would like to advise you to keep doing your work despite the difficulties you may sometimes encounter. The most important thing is to take satisfaction in the work you accomplish and to keep moving forward consistently – emphasized prof. Mariusz Piskuła.
The third edition of the Rising Managers Academy included ten two-day workshops delivered by experts from various fields. A total of 20 young scientific leaders took part in the programme, developing the competencies necessary to run modern research projects.
RMA is designed to strengthen skills in research management: preparing grant proposals, coordinating research activities, leading teams, planning high-technology projects, as well as social competencies such as communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and team development.
The RMA was organized as part of the ERA Chair WELCOME2 project: “Establishing a Centre of Excellence in Nutrigenomics to Improve Health and Quality of Life.”
