Risk management in projects – workshops

How to effectively reduce risks in projects? How to identify threats and better seize emerging opportunities? These questions guided participants of the latest workshops in the Rising Managers Academy program, focused on risk management in research projects.

The training was led by Karolina Czarnecka-Chrebelska prof. from the Medical University of Łódź, under the title „Risk Management”.

Participants learned the full process of risk identification and analysis, as well as how to create comprehensive risk management plans – increasingly required not only in grant applications but in every research project.

– Such a plan should be a standard in every project – the more risks we foresee at the start, the fewer surprises we face during implementation – emphasizes Prof. Czarnecka-Chrebelska.

During the workshops, participants used various analytical methods: historical analysis (internal and external), scenario analysis, the „5 Whys” technique, Ishikawa diagrams, and SWOT analysis. The workshops also provided an opportunity to exchange experiences among researchers from different fields.

– These meetings are an excellent chance to recognize risks others have already encountered. This way, we can avoid them in our own projects or address them effectively – adds the instructor.

The next sessions of the Rising Managers Academy program will resume in September after the summer break.
